Optical and Digital Holographic Interferometry Applied in Art Conservation Structural Diagnosis

چکیده
The holographic technology is not based on light penetration but on reflection of diffused laser beams from the artwork surface. Holography and related techniques involved in structural diagnosis do not require any sample removal or surface preparation and are safe for use on varnishes and pigments. In this context, the techniques can be classified as non-destructive, non-contact and non-invasive.

Measuring the deposited energy from a non-ionizing laser beam in water by digital holographic interferometry
Digital Holographic interferometry is a powerful and widely used optical technique for accurate measurement of variations in physical quantities such as density, refractive index, and etc. In this study, an experimental digital holographic interferometry setup was designed and used to measure the amount of energy changes induced by absorption of radiation from a non-ionizing infrared laser beam...
متن کاملColor Holographic Interferometry (from Holographic Plates to Digital Holography)
ABSTRACT: We propose to detail a comparison of optical non invasive techniques using panchromatic holographic plates and digital holography for analyzing unsteady wake flows. Few years ago, ONERA developed optical methods based on real-time three-wavelength holographic interferometry using transmission and reflection holographic plates. These techniques combine the advantages of differential in...
متن کاملOptical-Mechanical Signatures of Cancer Cells Measured by Interferometry
We used interferometric microscopy to uniquely measure live cancer cell fluctuations, in a noncontact, label-free manner, and showed that cancer cells fluctuate more than similar but healthy cells, demonstrating the method potential for cancer diagnosis. متن کاملHolographic interferometry with an injection seeded Nd:YAG laser and two reference beams.
The performance of twin injection seeded Nd:YAG lasers is compared with the performance of an argon-ion laser for recording dual-reference-beam holograms in Agfa 8E56 emulsion. Optical heterodyning is used to measure interference and the results are expressed in terms of heterodyning signal level and intensity signal to noise. The Nd:YAG laser system is to be used for optical inspections of str...
متن کاملIn-line digital holographic interferometry.
An optical system based on in-line digital holography for the evaluation of deformations is described. In-line holograms are recorded on a CCD chip. The problem of overlapping twin images typical for the in-line arrangement is solved by digital reconstruction and filtering of the unwanted wave fronts. Two separate interferograms of an object under test in its undeformed and deformed states are ...
